    Its hard to say. The abrasion on the holes looks made artificially.

    Yes.. However, The abrasion in the holes can be easily seen in other samples.
    So the important thing is the shape of the font-Style.

    I agree with the note that artificial aging on holes is used

    I don't, here is one of my examples to compare.
    Also remember, some tank crews had chains on their tags.

    Different reactions to the same type are thought to be simply inexperience.
    Artificial wear in the hole is not a problem at all.

    I don't collect Erkennungsmarken, but I have several in my collection acquired as parts of entire groupings to individual soldiers. Most if not all display very similar wear/abrasions to the examples shown by Montag and Ralph, caused by the cord used to hang them around the soldiers' necks.
