this badge was found in Karelia, North Russia. We wondering what J.R.G.D. means... We guess this would be - Inf Rgt Grossdeutschland. But it's odd cause Inf Rgt Grossdeutschland wasn't in Karelia...as far as we know



so what do you mean about this abbreviation?

You're right, that's what it is:

1. Kompanie/ Ersatz-Bataillon (der) Infanterie-Regiment Großdeutschland.

Just because the disc is from the GD doesn't mean the man stayed with them- it's entirely possible that he transferred or after being wounded was reassigned or something like that.
