Hello,
72922/44K means that this ID tag belonged to the soldier who was 72922nd soldier drafted in 1944 for coast land service (K - Küstendienst Land).
He might have been artilleryman, driver or weapons specialist.
These Küstendienst-Land types are the most common KM discs there are- given the probably relatively small number of costal batteries there actually were, it seems most likely the majority of these soldiers weren't artillerymen or anything special so drivers and perhaps other unspecialized support roles is probably what they were. What is it they say- it takes 5 men behind the lines to enable just 1 to actually fight?
Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...
Thanks guys!
