Relic id tag

Hi All
I'v just recently started to collect relic i.d tags. I've just bought one named to - ST/J.R 56, i understand this to mean staff company of the 56th Infantry Regiment.
Could anybody give me any information on the history of the regiment.
Any info would be much appreciated.

Hello,

ST = Stab, so it means just Staff of 56th Infantry Regiment.

Stacez- are you suggesting this isn't the Stabskompanie?

Yep Matt L, it's just simply Stab.

So what is the exact difference? Is this supposed to be just the actual staff officers or something?

Never mind- I see; there were Stab sections for the Regiment and eacho of the Bataillone, but only one Stabskompanie for an Infanterie-type Regiment, for example.
