Re: Show your SS Erkennungsmarken

The 48th ss battalion disk I bought from a dealer, I was told it was part of the 23rd ss division Nederland. I should have done my homework at the time but i believed the guy.
With this tag there was a Dutch unit , SS Panzer Gren Regt 48 " General Seyffart " bu this was a Regiment not a Btl which was the fakers big mistake !!
As a learning tool for everyone who wants to collect discs to the Waffen SS learn about the composition and orbats of ther units of the Waffen SS as quite often fakers know nothing about that and make up tags to units that never existed !!

Re: Show your SS Erkennungsmarken
Absolutely, it's the second thing to check after evaluating the physical characteristics of a disc- did the unit even exist? Oddly often, one finds it did not...
I've never seen one of those either Paul, but it looks beautiful- not a thing seems suspicious. They didn't necessarily recruit directly- in some cases men got new discs when moving to new types of units, and it does seem somewhat appropriate that the security police would want their own IDs worn I'd say.
Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...

Re: Show your SS Erkennungsmarken
Hello Eike41,
if this is not a secret - where does the "MIl.Stab des Führers" came from?

Re: Show your SS Erkennungsmarken
The Fuhrer's military HQ disk came from Northern Russia it was with the LAH disk "together" in the same place. They were ground dug.

Artillerie Ersatz Regiment tag found in the forward positions of the SS Sturmbrigade Langemarke so quite possibly a Forward Observer.
