A simple Luftwaffe ID Disc
Hi Guys
I've chanced upon an ID disc but I'm buggered if I can transcribe it into a unit
Stamped
1.FL. BK. / KG.2
I am assuming its a flight one for Kampfgeschwader 2 " Holzhammer "
BUT apart from probably being wrong on that score what's the BK ? - clothing - LOL just my luck it would be

Hi John,
A picture would be very helpful. Discs used by Luftwaffe personnel who flew should be coded so I am not sure about the stamping, "BK" might be Baking Company?
-
Unless I am very much mistaken, "FL. BK. " is the abbreviation for Flughafenbetriebskompanie [airfield operations company].

I would agree with HPL he is really the man on the abbreviations!

Jean Hoidal's book Deutsche Erkennungsmarken - codierungen der Luftwaffe, has a photo of a erkennungsmarke with abbreviations LW BK (without dot)=Luftwaffen Baukompanie.
Also, K.G. or KG must be Kampfgeschwader (Luftwaffe) and FL.=Flottille (Marine) or Flieger or Funklenkbar.
I hope to help you a little, Aghs.

Flughafen Betriebs Kompanie , Kampfgeschwader 2 ....
