It seems that would be:
Feldgendarmerie-Trupp 408, part of the VIII. Armee-Korps, which is listed as being at Stalingrad: http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...IIIKorps-R.htm (go to section '3. Gliederungen' and look in the box on the right 'Korpstruppen' and Feldgendarmerie-Trupp 408 is listed in each after 1. 9. 1939.
895 would be the man's personal roster number (Stammrollennummer) and the 'B' is of course his blood group (the Rh factor, positive or negative, wasn't included during the war).
So what you have there is the disc of a military policeman, the so-called "Kettenhunde" or 'chained dogs'.
Unfortunately, I can find no reference that includes any details about the unit- where it was formed, stationed, etc. but we do know that it's entire service life was with the VIII.AK so from the list you can see on the LdW website above, you know just where it served in the field.
Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...
Hi fraser.
Can we please see a picture of the tag in question?
Best regards
Anders
