Hello fellows can anyone ID this tag for me? Not sure if it is anything but it was found in a vets grouping.
Thanks

It could be a Werkmarke, only I dont like that eagle...
Looks like a fantasy item to me. The Wehrmacht had little tags for everything but I have never seen one with an eagle like that.
Thanks guys thats what I thought too. The Eagle looks strange, but it was in a WWII US vets grouping on his dog tag chain. Maybe something he purchased post war. I dont know??
Hello it puts me in mind of a coal miners I.D tag? So possibly something civil works related? I wouldn't write it off as a non period piece though. Best regards.
Nah, I suspect it's a fantasy piece too; that eagle is nothing like any eagle ever used by the Germans that I've ever seen.
Just as much is the odd marking on the other side- 'zbV' stands for zur besonderen Verwendung- 'for special use'- which sounds sexy but there were something like 1100 units with that designation. All kinds of regular and mundane type units too- one with the same number as this tag was Nachschub-Regiment Stab zbV- and there weren't special forces supply troops in the Wehrmacht LOL The key word is special- as in atypical or just with some specialist expertise or dedicated type function. But people see the term and think it's something different- so I can see fakers just throwing it in there to make the tag look more interesting.
And civilian personnel got regular type Erkennungsmarken just with a factory name or other than military unit markings, so that's definitely not what this is. It's just an identification tag- usually people call these kinds of things 'equipment tags' for want of a better identification; but I'd be really surprised if it's real...
Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...
