As I read it, the tag is a signals replacement unit. But there is no unit number, from this am I to believe that there was only one signals replacement unit for the whole Waffen SS?

Originally, there was only one, and it was designated as SS-Nachrichten-Ersatz-Abteilung from mid-October 1942 to mid-November 1943.

So if this tag is supposed to be genuine, it can only theoretically have been created between those dates, otherwise the designation would be either prefixed 'SS - T' or suffixed 'Ersatz Regiment'. IMO a lucky mistake by the forger but hey, that's just my opinion.
