Please guys.Hope your are looking at this one and maybe a answer.I find this a strange one.Seems to me there are ,new, letters placed between the others orginal ones.What do you think is this a orginal and how must i read this one 223 is the soldiers number ? and 14 jagd panzer jager kompangie Gruppe ? R ? 272.

14. Infanterie Panzer-Jäger Kompanie, Grenadier Regiment 272.
I have seen this font before but I don't have time to look it up now. Just got home from the nightshift and my pillow is calling for me. I am sure one of the others will help you further with this one.

Infanterie-Regiment 272



Aufgestellt am 18. September 1939 als Regiment der 5. Welle auf dem Truppenübungsplatz Jüterbog aus Abgaben der Ersatztruppenteilen des WK III und der 93. Infanterie-Division unterstellt. Die 13. Kompanie war zunächst Granatwerfer-Kompanie. Das Regiment war von August 1940 bis zum Februar 1941 beurlaubt, die 13. Kompanie wurde danach 13./IR 338. Am 15. Oktober 1943 in Grenadier-Regiment 272 umbenannt.

The backside looks a little freshly stamped but the front and letters looks good.
