How about this one? This is the other one I picked up cheap lately (this one is being mailed though and the color has me worried but it could be the photo).

Hi Richie, here is the replica (sold as such) I mentioned, double click on the pic in the link to get a good view.

M1936 STAR COCKADE FOR HEADGEAR SOLDIERS AND SERGEANTS (34 mm)

    Cheers, Ade.
    Thanks Ade!

Not too difficult to distinguish. The cotter pin style prongs and solder are a dead giveaway - plus, it seems to be stamped from sheet copper, not brass plated steel.

Someday though, one will be offered or considered authentic with some age and use.

    Cheers,
    Richie

Thanks everyone for the input. When I have a moment, I'll do good clear shots of both and post them up.
I'm not an expert on these but once you have a real one in your hands, I think it becomes easier to tell fakes.....

...because this type was introduced in 1947. Please do a search. I have posted a lot of information on many types of stars over the years - including these.

99% of all mass produced stars are magnetic - brass plated steel.
