Toivo Antikainen's unit of 170 Red Finns has raided enemy rear. That was one of 1921-1922 war actions.
East Karelian Uprising and Soviet
Nothing about this particular episode in English version and just few words in Russian.

I've been reading up on him and he is an interesting historic figure. His actions during the East Karelian Uprising and defeating the Finnish White Troops we're well known during the Soviet days.

The photo seems to be original one, not from the movie. What I mean is that the film refers to the same event i.e. Red Finns raid on enemy rear.

Ah, now I understand.

It surprised how famous he became for the raid. He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner for it, which was the highest possible award during the Russian Civil War.

They made an award for Antikainen's raid on the enemy rear. I think I read somewhere else that only about 100 we're awarded.
