I suspect these maybe from Paris, Texas, USA.
Cheers, Ade.

Have to agree, I think the French may have had more pressing matters to attend to in 1944 than the manufacture of buttons for lend lease to the USSR. Not to mention the difficulties of transporting them there when any ports and ships in theatre would be working hard to supplying the invasion forces.
Yes, the crucial point would be if these actually do date from 1944.
If it made in 1944, there is a contract signed with Russian Army, how and when?
We have a button thread somewhere in our history... Seems RichieC posted some French made buttons as well. I suspect they may actually be prewar.
Hi,
here is the post on the buttons. Richie posted the same on page 6. https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/unifo...ttons-11349-6/
The company AM & Cie is a French company.
It was created in 1853 by Deshayess Mass and Co. Mass recovery in 1854 and A Anglade, it closed in the 1960s.
It made military buttons for the French army and administration, railways, customs ....
I think these buttons are pre-war production (years.30-40), during the period when the USSR and France resumed diplomatic exchanges in 1924.
There may be a contract was signed with the plant.
This is only my hyphothèse.
Philippe
Non nobis, Domine, non nobis, sed nomini tuo da gloriam!
I can only concur with my colleagues. They must be prewar or postwar. 1944 i highly doubt. Maybe from Paris, Texas as Ade suggested
