Hi Guys, this is a new item to my collection. It was bought along with the sharis for a good price.
I think it may be a late 1940's private purchase example?
All buttons are brass and are unmarked.
Note the tiny hook and eye to help close the collar and keep it smart.
The purple edging can be seen under each shoulder board loop and down one internal seam. I love this
Even though I think this was postwar made, material shortages still allowed one sleeve to have an insert of cloth down it's full length to save cloth.
Buttons for the Pogoni are the tie on type.
Cheers, Ade.
A very interesting, useful, and educational thread.
It is nice to see a thread where we can all learn things.
The tunic #2 shown by SGM (ret.) also could be the M54 (pure wool) soldier's type produced for Moscow garrison, far north districts and Soviet units abroad.
Adrian, I think the tunic you show is summer uniform latest 50-s
Hi Adrian,
I have the same opinion that "Komandir RKKA. Color, finish make me think that this Gymnasterka is latest 50-s.
Regards.
Philippe

Any markings to the backs of the buttons?
Could we see the inside where the pockets are please?
Cheers, Ade.
PS: the Order of the Red Banner should really be worn on the other side above the breast pocket.
