Default Soviet Dirk - from the 50ties?

    Hello everyone

Lately I've been looking around for a decent example of a soviet dirk for my m55 "zhukov" uniform. One particular example caught my interest (photos attached). I think buying a thing like that is a great milestone for my collection. Judging by the photos, could any of you far more experienced collectors tell if it's an authentic item from the late 50ties? All help would be greatly appreciated

    Best regards

    Hi Lancier,

This looks to me to be a perfectly good example of a a '57 dated army dagger from the ZIK factory.

The hand engraved serial number is the correct style. It should not be machine engraved or stamped.

The first figure of the serial number should be a cyrillic letter but I can't make it out from the picture.

The belt and hangers look pretty good too.

I hope the price is good as well?

    Regards

    Mark

    Hello Mark!

Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and thoughts on the dirk in question. I find the info on the different ways of numbering particularly interesting. As for the serial number, I believe it is ГО 3274. The seller offers the set for an equivalent of 230 dollars (shipping costs included), which is on the verge of unaffordability for me, as I am yet awaiting my paycheck.

    Best regards

Well, to be honest I think that with the belt and hangers that is an OK price especially with shipping included.

You might find it cheaper but also you could pay a lot more and this one seems pretty good to me.
