I did not am careful these details. If it is a modified M35, you have to see the traces of the pockets that were on the chest.

    Hi Doug ,

The construction is really atypical , personally I do not think to a 35/43 conversion .

Also tunic is strikingly similar to one shown in the 'The Soviet Soldier' by Phillipe Rio, described as an M35/43 conversion, matching in just about every detail including the sleeve piping.
Is there anything in particular you want to talk about ?

Hi Dom, thanks for your reply. What do you think this tunic is, and why do you think it might have been altered?

Interior seams on the sleeves and on the sides are strange and seem brittle .

What do you conclude from this?

Personally I do not like but that's just my opinion .

Thank you for your comments. I have just noticed evidence of sleeve chevrons. My understanding is sleeve chevrons were abolished in 1943.

This gym belonged to a pre war officer as it was split from other pre war pieces. The type of wool and shade. sleeve chevrons ghost shadow Shows its been in the earlier pattern and upgraded. This was done at different levels during the chaotic wartime era .many collectors want to see same traits as in European construction. It's from a senior officer as far as I was told ( The chevrons are large , major and above) and was 200 pounds when i bought it in St petersburg in 2008
