Re: Tank Crew leather Jacket
Lars,
The base jacket is very nice and looks to be 100% correct. The insignia are interesting, I would offer at this point that the tabs are real as are the rank devices. The tank insignia is where this one gets strange. They are not of the archetype shape and form and they have been replaced. The imprint of the former nut from the original screw back devices is obvious, and you can see the imprint in the black velvet of the original tank shape on the faces. I do not wish to say the tank devices on the jacket now are not real. Somewhere on the internet there is a website that shows photographic evidence of many variations of tank devices, some many would find surprising I think. However, I cannot remember the web page. Hopefully someone here will recognize the site I speak of and can share it. This jacket may just have a rare set of tank insignia applied to it.

Re: Tank Crew leather Jacket
Thank you for the comment Mike. Yes i noticed the Tank insignia have been changed from screw back to split pin. Why this have happened i can't tell of course. One reason could be that someone took it off and sold it at some point. Unfortunately this happens a lot to WW2 uniforms from most countries. The Tank insignia originally fitted obviously had a little different shape, and being screw back ( and most likely from 1935 and on ) maybe valuable. I am quite sure the Tank insignia refitted are good, but the period i can't tell.
Regards, Lars
