It has a few condition issues. It has been hand vaulted which cracked
the core. The catch has been reattached and it has been given a coat
of varnish or laquer. But considering it is an original 1870 ek1 with the
correct makers mark and side hooks. I am absolutely thrilled to add it
    to my collection.

    Great pick up Greg!
Even with all of it's repairs and conditions, it's a beauty!
    Congrats on landing this one!

I've been waiting years to have a chance at a "fanged" 1870 Ek1.

Hand vaulted and cracked core? That just adds to its history IMHO. The guy wanted to look cool

Agreed I have no issues at all with the cracked core. I'm not a fan of the yellowing
varnish but I think I might leave it as it is rather than do any possible harm to the original
patina or the blackening on the core.
