1914 Eisernes Kreuz 2 Klasse Stamped C or possibly U

Well this is the second of my purchases today and a clear makers mark that I'm not familiar with. It is marked with what looks like either a C or a U on the Cross Loop. I have seen several lists that do list a maker mark of C and a U, both unknown makers at this time as far as I can see. I am leaning more on the side of this being a U maker mark.

Any help is as always very much appreciated.

Hope you like it, it's another one I just couldn't leave behind. It has very nice detail on the Crown and the Oak leaves and also great detail of the acorns themselves. My pictures really do not do this cross justice.

Hi Ken.
I am pretty sure that your cross is an unmarked Godet however
I have no explanation for the mark on the small ring. I checked
my Godet crosses and none have that mark and I have not found
an reference to that mark on-line.

A Godet cross is always a good one to have. The mark had me scratching my head and made me take a gamble on it.

You have been busy my friend. Well done on another fine cross! That is a unique mark on the loop ring. Possible inspection mark? None the less, great detail to the core and kudos to you on another beautiful find.

Inspection mark seems like a distinct possibility, thank you both for your insights.
