1916 gold for iron watch fob

Article about: Great watch fob ( now it is my chain for my loupe) 38 cm long great condition I have 1 question what does the stamp or hallmark mean? im pretty sure its not silver is it just a makers mark?

    I can't help with the stamp, however it is a nice looking fob.

    perhaps its a jewlers stamp, since that could not use gold or silver they made the fob out of iron/steel and its just their mark

    perhaps since jewlerys ect could not use gold or silver they made the steel/iron braclets they stamped it , its is def high quality workmanship- just a random guess

    I think the stamp is just the hallmark of the maker. This item appears to be a commemorative or gift type piece. Kind of like WHW tinnies from WW2. Donate your gold to help produce iron ore for the war effort. Or gold for strength. Not being a native speaker I'm not exactly sure what it says. Maybe I'm close.....manybe I'm not.

    Inscription would translate to something like "in Iron time 1916"

    The mark is for Kollmar & Jourdan AG, Pforzheim, Germany. The photo is upside down.
