Article about: Finally had the luck for a full can! So far had got a few empty tins, but this one is full! What amazes me is the quality of the leather, it is still flexible like new, no signs of old age!

Finally had the luck for a full can! So far had got a few empty tins, but this one is full! What amazes me is the quality of the leather, it is still flexible like new, no signs of old age! The can is in bad shape outside, but inside is the mask and spare lenses, so I'll live with it

It's found in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian army used only German masks during the WWI

Sokol , nice find !...however it is a model 1917 Ledershutzemaske, despite the date on the filter. The Model 1918 was very similiar to the 1917 mask but with several improvements, best way to recognise the M18 is the lack of the ''spider'' frame behind the eye lenses, it also featured two improved head straps running ''horizontal'' around the head.

Very nice example of a very nice mask these seem to be the kind of First World War gas masks that are still intact and in great condition even though they are close to 100 years old unlike the allied counterparts such as the French M2's and the British/American SBR's which are almost all deteriorated The Germans sure made these things to last

    Thanks for showing
