I've been looking at these lately, and reading up on them, but these 2 have me confused. I thought that the cutout ones were all magnetic, but the first looks brass under the paint, and from the rear the cutting looks sloppy, the guard of the right sword looks like they cut too much off. The ribbon looks off to me, it look short. Or is it that I just haven't had enough exposure to these older ones and am unfamiliar with the early manufacturers? Any and all opinions welcome and thank you for your time.

The very early ones were made with better metals, but the majority will be blackened tombac.

Thank you guys, it seems I am learning after all lol and I finally googled tombac, now I know why it looks like brass. So instead of being a bad cutting, it may have just broken off over time.

    Hello Andy
This particular style of badge has been attributed to the maker Otto Schickle.
    It looks good to me.
