Hi ade, neither do i , something else ive got to learn, jeez my list is getting longer,i think ill have to ask for another 50yrs but then i bet some so and so would come up with something new and bugger it up. ps my birthday next week so id like nice SS dagger ,luft officers dagger , pair of naval dagger hangers , heer officers dagger with hangers, a couple of SS lids , i think thats it for now, dont want to be greedy,got to think about xmas pressies as well ,would anybody like to take pity on a poor soul whos been good so far this year.

I have never seen a real one in person, but IMO this one looks
just a bit to fresh to me. Also the details are pretty soft compared
to pictures I've seen of originals.

Sorry gentlemen, those skulls look indeed a bit like the ones for a busby of Leib Husaren Regt. Nr. 1 or Nr. 2, but I think they are reproductions.

I'm bummed that mine may be bad. I do like the look of yours much better. Nice patina on mine, and looks a bit more finished then the OP's, but the rear sure looks the same.

davejb, sorry but a copy....it completly lacks the crisp detailing, it is a so called 'Galvano' copy, the details should be a crisp mirror image back and front, it is important to know how the plates were made back then, a male and female half stamped together. Notice how the detail on the rear is not crisp, but just as soft as the front, i dont have one in my collection..but have examined a couple of genuine ones over the years, the fastening pins on the rear are positioned wrong on yours too low., and are not reinforced, i.e. soldered onto a small oval backing plate, and of course it would never been allowed out of the makers facility damaged/unfnished !...German efficiency !

In the end, seems that 3 sets of prongs can be ok. Originals should have a silver wash, mine appears brass, however. Some of the fakes posted are clearly lacking detail and have off fat prongs, but some of the real ones are very detailed.

Still not 100% mine is fake.
