I guess prior to a purchase you could attempt to negotiate over the return policy. If a seller is convinced of originality themselves, then they would know a return is going to be unlikely anyway. If they have doubts themselves, they shouldn't be selling it. It's the old ethic of standing by what you sell. Satisfied customers are the cornerstone principle of successful businesses.
