    Default Doubt over this EK1

    Hi all,

I have bought this EK1, however I am not convinced its the real deal. I have spoken to the seller and they are happy to refund.
It does not appear to have an Iron core (1st issue) secondly I am not convinced about the catch etc..Thoughts?
I have read about the non-magnetic cores and the bloke over the phone tried to convince me it was a 1918 navy version (i smell a rat)

The story about non-metallic crosses being produced
for the Navy is total BS. However several companies
used different alloy cores in some of their crosses.
Deumer, Werner, and Schickle come to mind.

Now to the cross at hand-------
Your cross is a perfectly good Deumer made cross.
Most likely from the inter war years. 1920s to early 1930s.
I don't have a lot of experience with cases but from what
I can see, the case and carton look fine to me.

Swab some of that dust and grime off that cross and you'll have a kicker of a badge. I think the case is as rare or more so than even the cross itself. Nice find.

Thats what drew me to it in the firs place. I have just started collecting again after about 15 years and i wanted the big brother to me EK11.

So glad I found this forum, the knowledge I have gained in the last 2 days has been amazing.
