Eagle desk ornament- opinions sought

I would be grateful for any opinions on the attached, it makes for a nice display piece, it is non-magnetic possibly zinc. I was wondering whether this was either WW1 period, Weimar veteran related, post WW2 WW1 veteran related or just some made up fantasy piece.

It was €30, so I wasn't expecting too much, I still like it, even as a book end! Thanks for the comments.
