Yes, there are many fakes.
A couple of the things I look for are, maker's mark on the ring, detailed crown and older sand cast cores. Others will have more to add.

For your first cross, make sure it's a 3 piece cross. (silver frames, iron core ) There are
1 piece crosses that are period but it takes some expertise to judge good from bad.
Look at the 1914 date. Make sure that the "4" is open at the top. One of the most
common fakes on ebay right now has a 4 that is closed at the top.
