I'd suggest sending a message to Greg "chopperman" on this one-if anyone can make a solid judgement on these older EK's, it would be him !

If it's good, 280 Pounds seems like a good deal - but Greg
will know for sure.........

Steve.
Thanks guys hopefully Greg will pick up on this then . & see what he has to say? Cheers Terry.
Would love to but one of these early EK's but they seem a bit of a minefield unless you know what your doing. If it is original £280 seems a great deal.
I think tjis one has a lot of possibility. I am away from my
files right now so I can't do a real good check on it. Hopefully
I can make it home tonight. But my first guess is it's a good one.

Cheers Greg I will wait with baited breath..if you make it home tonight. Now don't rushing on my behalf lol...I was just looking at this so I might I might not!! but thanks for all your time gents. If it is real & a bargain I just might lol.. Cheers Terry.
That's a nice looking ek2. Hope it's original.
Are you back collecting german imperial items along with the older british items ?
IMO, this is an original 1870 cross made after
the 1895. These later crosses, sometimes refered
to as "Jubilee" crosses because many were made for the
1895 Jubilee (a 25th anniversary cellebration of the victory
in the 1870 war.)
While not an "awarded" cross, they are still collectable.
Remember, many, many soldiers who were entitled the
1870 EK did not receive their crosses until after the war.
