Hey I have read somewhere that the LV stands for Leferverbund fur das Eiserne Kreuz ( Supply network for the Iron Cross ) and that the number such as 65 is the specific supplier. Is this true?

Yes. It is supposed to be from "Lieferungsverband" ( suppliers collective)
according to "the history and significance of a medal" by Frank Wernitz and Volker Simons.
And there are examples of LV 2,10,68 or69 ,74 and o, in the book .
