re: Flea market Tschapka
Looks like a original Uhlan chapska (czapka)you found yourself there!
Any chance to get better (lighter and closer)pictures.
Pictures of the inside would be great as well.
cheers

re: Flea market Tschapka
Hey Pablo,
there is work to be done on thise one!
Glad to see it still got's his original liner.
The upper part of the visor is missing like 3 to 4 mm, the part above the stiching is gone, and so the visor in no longer (well) attached to the helmet, exept by the two metal rivets on the sides.
The square top part also had to indured som dammages.
It seems to have been a Prussian Uhlan all right, as one can still see the impression/print or shade of the Imperial eagle.
I like it if you don't intend to restore, or complete it and if it comes up for trade, let me know!
cheers

re: Flea market Tschapka
Pablo...a perfectly good "M1915 Ulanan Tschapka", in need of some TLC, it can be restored...and will look good when complete, congratulations on your find !
Prost ! Steve.

re: Flea market Tschapka
In regards to restoration, any suggestions? I guess I will need a plate, chinstrap, and kockades. I thought about using the chinstrap to cover up the junction between the visor and the place where the stitching used to be.

Re: Flea market Tschapka
The chinstrap will not cover the whole junction especialy on the sides, but it is worth the try.
Beware the helmet plate is different to the one's on the spike helmets, they are much smaler for chapska's and shako's!
But that is indeed what you need.
cheers
