    Hey guys,

I just bought this canteen this afternoon for $20 at a local antique store. This is only piece of axis militaria I have ever purchased, so I know nearly nothing. There is a metal tag on the body of the canteen that appears to read "METALLFABRIK ~ MUSSBACH 1917". I'm guessing it was probably a bring back by a Doughboy to the Pacific Northwest (I found it just south of the Fort Lewis area).

Does anybody know anything about these bottles? Did I pay the usual price?

    Thanks!

You have a nice condition 1917 Feldflasch mit Korkstopsel. The M1917 should be tin-plated inside. Condition is good as was the price paid.

Thanks guys! I wasn't planning on keeping it when I bought it, but maybe I should reconsider...

Good idea, there are a number of sources of correct covers available and the correct, simplified harness is easy to make if you are familiar with leather work. I wish you the best, you are an excellent source of flawless information on British web gear and I am happy to have been of assistance.

Thanks USNV5, that's really nice of you to say! Maybe I will find a cover and reconstruct a harness. Thanks again!
