Actually I think it is the Romanian M/1879 that is showed here:T Tacked Blades
It has got both the steyr stamp and the same stamp on the hilt. No Anchor stamp...

    re "Deutschland" stamp

During the First World War, the Germans applied this marking to some foreign bayonets they used.

From memory, I'm sure there is one in Anthony Carter's book on Ersatz & Foreign bayonets used by the Germans. Can't get at my copy at present - it is in one of fifty boxes somewhere in my new flat.

If it find it I will post further information.

    Thanks Richie !
Unfortunately i do not have Carters book....
So this bayonet was ordered by the Rumanians at the Steyr factory, but how did it end up in German hands ? Was it captured or did they simply buy it ?

It is possible that it was captured.

I do know that there were some arms dealers in Germany who held stocks of foreign bayonets which were used by the German Army in WW1. This could also be the source of the bayonet.

I will try and find the book !
