Got this one today.
It says "Deutschland" on the handle and "Steyr 1883" on the blade.
Can anyone tell me what model this is ?
Thanks

Kropatschek bayonet made for France by Steyr in Austria!...
Gunny`s right, here`s more info on it.....Variant of a French 1874 Gras Sword Bayonet Adapted for the Kropatschek Navy Rifle by Steyr 8424:44 | Militaria | WARSTUFF
JEDEM DAS SEINE
Actually I think it is the Romanian M/1879 that is showed here:T Tacked Blades
It has got both the steyr stamp and the same stamp on the hilt. No Anchor stamp...
re "Deutschland" stamp
During the First World War, the Germans applied this marking to some foreign bayonets they used.
From memory, I'm sure there is one in Anthony Carter's book on Ersatz & Foreign bayonets used by the Germans. Can't get at my copy at present - it is in one of fifty boxes somewhere in my new flat.
If it find it I will post further information.
Regards
Richie
It is possible that it was captured.
I do know that there were some arms dealers in Germany who held stocks of foreign bayonets which were used by the German Army in WW1. This could also be the source of the bayonet.
I will try and find the book !
