I think that so few of us have any real experience with these so we
are not comfortable giving opinions on it. If it's the real deal, then I
think it is a great piece and would display very well with a pilots badge
and a iron cross.

MAP...I believe the cloth on top of the cap was used to clean their goggles from the grime and oil sputtering from the engine.

G'day Dave I have also a pair very similar to the top pair there, I'll drag it out if you want to see it? haven't taken photos of it before! I obtained mine from Gallipoli veteran's family as a FYI...
