Helmet Question

Please help me identify this helmet. When was it used? What is it worth? Is it authentic? And any other helpful info, thanks!

It is a WWI German 'M16' Stahlhelm (steelhelmet) shell that has been repainted
with modern green paint - probably to try to stop or contain the rust.

There should be some markings stamped on the inside of the rim/flare
if the paint hasn't been applied too thick. It appears to be
a size 64 or smaller.........
