The company is based in Berlin Germany, Steglitz. Doesn’t mean the soldier is German though..

So is a german soldier? Or maybe a Austro-Hungarian if we judge by uniform?

Not a very sharp image but from the cockade I would say he is Austro Hungarian Naval seaman rather than German.

It looks like SMS Emden on his cap ,so he would be German...maybe?

Had a closer stare at the tally and I think it reads Erzherzog, which was Archduke class of ship?

The Tally does say SMS something. That would indicate that he is either German or Austrian. The more I look at him, the more he appears to be Austrian.
