A friend sent me these pics of what he called a u-boat medal. He is interested in it due to his years in the Silent Service. I told him it is a watch fob. Is this u-boat related? He believes so due to the torpedo. Opinions? Rich A. in Pa.

It is a watch fob, except the attached clip looks more like an aerial bomb.
A torpedo is not tapered as drastically as this. Not sure if it is
a 'period' piece from these photos............

Help Watch Fob?(Not mine)Additional photo of WW1 watch fob. There is a small propellor shape at the nose and a much larger one at the rear. I suspect something to do with respect to a rating speciality and period served.

Any and all help identifying and valuing appreciated.

On closer inspection of the propeller at the back, it would indeed appear
to be a torpedo, as you originally stated, and a specialty rating is
    likely what it signifies, IMO.

I have seen 'similar' watchfobs - though not military related - in the $50
to $100 range. With the dated Iron Cross and torpedo, I could see
it making at least that, perhaps more if it is truly a period piece.

    Steve.

Rich, I concour with Walkwolf....IMO a nice personal memento of a mans service in the Imperial German Navy, the "Kaiserliche Marine", most probably in a U-Boat, probably a post war (1920's) piece produced commercially for the Veterans market, personilised with his date of service. Prost ! Steve.
