Indeed a nice size 64 M16, mm "ET" for Eisenhuettenwerke Thale A.G". in Thale /Harz region, they made sizes 60 to 68, one of the most common of makers found.....On the inside dome of every WWI German helmet you will find a heating lot code. These codes were used by the factories during production. The heating lot code will indicate where the steel was milled. These steel mills are called rolling mills. "R" indicates the steel used to make your helmet was milled by "Stahlwerk Röchling" steel mill at Volkingen.
Prost ! Steve.
Thanks Steve, just need to try and identify the insignia on the outside of helmet.
Could it be a 'foreign volunteer' helmet.
We're these around during ww1?
