Good KO (Klein, Oberstein). Core is not repainted, this KO type has originally such "fat" paint - I call it leather look.
I had such cross, it´s the only KO type, that doesn´t loose paint too much.
I agree, 195 dollars is quite too much. But if you are beginner, James, take it. It´s perfectly good cross, so you´ll learn a lot from it, worth that 30 dollars that you´ll pay extra. (and before that, you can still make a reasonable offer, as I see...)

Miro wrote KO (Klein, Oberstein). Is not KO Königliches Muenzamt Orden, Berlin.
Good cross. I agree with Miro, it's not repainted.
At $195 it's not really a bad price for a 1st class
in the US. Not a great price but not bad.
I think everyone should have a KO in there
collection as I believe these were the main
awarded cross.
As for who "KO" was, there are 2 or 3 different
ideas but in all reality, nobody knows for sure.

Thank Chopperman. About "KO" is now clear.
I don't have the funds for this one so one of you guys snatch it up so we can see it in more flattering pictures : )

Check out post #287 page 29 for a nearly identical cross---

There is no straight evidence, but one thing is sure - Königliches Munzamt Abteilung Orden never produced a single Iron cross.
On the other hand, there are some evidences supporting Klein, Oberstein, being the maker of KO cross. It´s mainly quantitative theory - if you will browse this thread back, you will find some info.

MIRO Thanks for the clarification.
Anyone have any new EKs to show?
