    Very nice

It does have the CD core but I do not know
if the cross was actually assembled by Dillenius.
We have never seen one that was actually maker
marked and the (800) stamp is in a box which we
don't see on CD marked crosses. With all that
being said, that is a sweet cross. especially nice
to see with both of the original nuts.

This used to be refered to as a "flyer's cross" The though
being at that pilots would sew the backplate to the tunic so
it would not be lost. There is nothing to prove that more
pilots bought than grunts or sailers but it does make for
    a great story.

Congrates on a nice addition to your collection.

Always remember--there is no such thing as
    a 1870 screwback.

    Hello everyone,

I would like to ask you a general question: How big problem is a replaced needle?

I finally saved enough money to buy my first EK I and found otherwise a nicely looking piece of Wagner&Sohn (I have a soft spot for them, WS is my favorite maker) - the only issue is, that the needle has been replaced. Although the craftsmanship looks fine (even quite close to the original needle, in fact) I still have some doubts whether it is a wise decision in general. I don't want to regret after a year or two that I bought something with significantly reduced value. (Especially should I need to part with my collection at some point in the future.)

I hope that you can tell me from your experience whether such crosses should be better avoided or not. Perhaps is a replaced needle not so big issue after all? Thank you all in advance.

    Hi Pavel,

My personally opinion is, that I don't fancy the repaired or altered crosses too much, and for a first one, I would go for a complete original ( not altered) one .
I cannot imagine, that it doesn't affect value either :-/
    Just my thoughts .....

Condition does affect value. If you are buying
it for an investment or possible resale then I
    would probably pass on it.

I am a collector not a dealer. I will keep my little
treasures till I die. So I buy what appeals to me.

I've got this owner-vaulted Screwback to Pinback Conversion, and I personally believe it has far more "character" than any minty example could have...To each their own, as they say, lol...
    cheers, Glenn
