    Default Weird ribbon, thoughts?

    Good day,

I found this at a flea market yesterday. "G" for Godet? It looks as though someone modified for wear around the neck as a costume piece or something. Any thoughts?

Looks like a early sand cast core.
    Nice score.

What is the maker name on the button?

    Greg,

The button is approximately 1 cm diameter with no maker's mark. I'll enclose some different pictures.

Nice cross, interesting device. The question is, whether this device was meant to be worn around the neck, or through the tunic/jacket buttonhole. I canĀ“t make it from the pic, if the ribbon is long enough to be worn around the neck (and not naked neck, but neck with collar or two). Here is my piece with wedding bow, which is long enough to be worn around the neck.

I love that one Miro ! A second class worn as a Ritter Kreuz ;-)

    Micro,

That is a very nice piece, would that have been intended for wear around the neck? Why would a second class be converted for such a purpose?

I suspect that mine is an attempt at creating a ritter kreuz fake for the uninformed collector or someone creating a theatrical costume piece. I saw it for what it was and paid what I assumed was a fair price.

I agree...If I were to come across such a cross I would likely assume that the neck-ribbon was added for either theatrical reasons or by an over-eager youngster at some time during its journey...
    cheers, Glenn
