Drilled out jumpring is typical for 1813 EK2 Prinzens. It is one of the crucial signs, that particular 1813 Prinzen is period one. From this reason you can see original 1813 Prinzens either with drilled out jumpring, or with jumpring repair (as this style is very fragile).

These prinzens are last in EK 1813 production line, after all serif and sanserif pieces, bent stems and wideframes. They were produced in 1850´s, which is quite close to 1870 era. I am posting some "borrowed" pictures of the second EK2 1870 with this style, which I had seen and missed on ebay before.

Last two pics are of my 1813 Prinzen.

Not only is that a seldom seen variation, but just
look at the quality of that cross.

I have always said that the 1870 crosses are the nicest,
most well made of any of the Iron cross family and the
sharp well defined details of this 1870 prove that point.

    Congratulations on a good find.

    Thank you, Greg.
I agree with your opinion, I would just add that the most beautiful crosses are those beginning with numerals "18.." , it means all 1813ers and 1870ers. But in all other criteria - like manufacture quality, affordability and variability, 1870ers win the fight. Not only nicely manufactured EK2s and equally beautiful EK1s rarer than Knights crosses, but the enamelled Virgin crosses, repetition clasps and 25 jubilee spangen make this EK era very attractive.

    Miro,
That is an absolutely wonderful cross.
Meybauer made some of the best quality full sized crosses
and their Prinzens are even better. If you didn't tell us it
was a 3/4 sized version, we would not have known from
the pictures. Having Sedlatzek's stamp on it is an added
    bonus IMO.

    Congratulations on a great score.

I have a 2nd class twin to it.

Hah, you are right, Greg, I forgot to add some comparison photo. Here it is. I know your EK2 twin. It was my reference cross when I studied this Prinzen type. They are not easy to find. This is only fourth piece (third EK1) of this type I have ever seen.

Marc, you know me, it was not expensive... Dealers ask far more for Prinzen EK2.
