    Lee,
That's another fine batch of crosses. Looking forward to seeing your
    cased examples.

I finally decided to pick up another Ek1 (the price was right----cheap)
but now comes the hard part for me. Waiting on the slow boat from the fatherland.

Martin DK.... the first one appears to be a so-called patriotic item , made in Germany for consumption on the home front , similiar crosses were made by the Allies, but usually contained derogatory terms or referances. The other cross is a 1973 WW1 Prussian Veterans commerative medal, given when he attended a get to together (a ''treffen'') on the date shown, I can not offer any explanation as to why EK II ribbon is used on both crosses, when I would of thought 1914 EK II ribbon would of been more appropriate....unless it is to signify the ''Imperial'' colours, Red/White/Black.

This first one I beleive is a mid type case. Both EK1s are typical KO crosses but these were my first cased crosses.

Heres my first EK2 case that came without a cross. Can anyone tell me who they think the maker was or any opinions on what type of cross I should display with this case if a maker cannot be varified? Or does it matter? I tried taking out the inside to maybe reveal a maker but was unable too without braking it. Any info on the tag on the back would be helpfull as well. Regards, Lee

Martin DK ...I must get better glasses, I mistakenly thought it read 1973 !... you are right, it is 1873...that now makes it a desirable early veterans association medal (probably for Franco-Prussian/Danish/Austrian wars 1864-1871) . Sorry for the confusion !

    Lee,
Thanks for showing your cased crosses. I don't know a lot
about cases but I believe you are correct in your assumption
    of "mid" and "late" cases.

I don't think there is any way to know which cross would have
come in the Ek2 case. Many cross makers did not make their
own cases. It is rare to see a case named to a specific maker.
Godet is one of the few makers i can think of off the top of my
head that would usually have the inside silk liner marked.

Thanks for the info Chopperman. I will probably put my Godet in it or save that spot for a CD 800.
