Dujailah, yours is a Friedlander, ' Fr ' (thats if my eyes are right) marked, Frank & Reif is ' FR' . Its a nice cross, i wouldnt worry about the ribbon, it looks fine.

Hi Oradour, the makers mark looks like a 'FR' (click on the photo to get an enlarged pic). So it's probably a Frank & Reif. The core is different to a Friedlander EK1 I have in my collection.

    Cheers,

    Richard.

    DUJAILAH,
i have to rely on my magnifying glass these days, being diabetic has knackered my eyes somewhat !....if its a capital FR your right to attribute the cross to Frank & Reif, i believe they are a Stuttgart (capital of Wurttemburg)maker. These cross's are addictive, i usually collect combat gear/helmets/uniforms & the suchlike, and just had a couple of EK's as examples, but ive decided to specialise in Imperial EK's......i cant help it ! ive got a couple of dozen know !... this thread has kick started me into this sphere of Imperial collecting.

My latest addition, maker marked ' CD 800 ', Carl Dillenius of Pforzheim, 800 silver content. As Glenn R says just as nice as the 'Godet', same crisp detail.

Beautiful CD. Just look at the long slender numerals and detailing on the oak leaves. Thanks for the photo.

    Glenn R,
thanks for that, i would post a photo of the marks on the ring, but i cant seem to get a good enough shot, i should spend money on a new camera, instead of EK's !.....the CD mark is within a square , always a sign of quality, with the 800 stamped into the ring, you can just make them out in the photo of the rear. All i need know is a 1st class to go with it !

Hi Oradour, Nice 'CD 800'. I know what you mean about Imperial EK's. I thought I'd buy a couple for examples and now I've got 8 EK2's & 2 EK1's. I think I'm nearly done with EK2's; but I'd still like to get a 'G' & a 'CD800'. Also I'd like a couple more parade mounted ribbons & then I think I'll concentrate on some quality EK1's. Imperial EK's are still very reasonable, in general, compared to TR EK's & to my mind very underated.

    Cheers,

    Richard.

I started out years ago with TR EK's and thought I'd get a couple of those old WW1 crosses just for the sake of completion! The first time I handled a vaulted silver imperial EK1 I was sold. Now they are the only crosses that I have collected religiously for years. I will still buy a TR cross if it's exceptionally good. I'm particularly fond of Klein & Quenzers but the variety and beauty of the imperial crosses is my main interest.

I have only 4 TR crosses. As Glenn stated, there is just
something about a good vaulted silver Imperial cross. To me,
all TR crosses look almost alike. Those guys spend hours looking
at the slightest difference in the placement of the date or some
other thing trying to determine a crosses maker. I like to be able
to see and feel the difference.
