Nice one i think everyone should have a "KO" in their collection. KO crosses are one of the most common crosses. I have been told that the KO crosses are thought to be the standard "awarded" cross.
Greg....what are your thoughts on the recent revelation that "KO" medals are made by Klein & Quenzer ?
    Prost !Steve.

    Amazing thread!

Here is my contribution. The non-combatant EK on the left is marked, but for the life of me I can't read it. My other is a salty unmarked tombak. Not much, but I enjoy them.

    Steve,
My own opinion is that it's as good a guess as
any of the other theories. So far we have not
seen anything that actually supports the theory.

    Wolfe,
Thanks for posting those crosses. Right off
the top of my head, I can not name the makers
but I will do some digging, maybe we can identify
    them for you.

Something from a Prussian veterans' association and almost certainly Landwehr-related.

"Mit Gott für König und Vaterland" means "With God for King and Fatherland" and was a traditional Prussian motto.

Members of the Prussian Landwehr (the second-line reserves) wore a Landwehrkreuz [Landwehr Cross] on their headgear whose design was almost identical to that of this cross; the difference being that the lower arm of the cross bore only the year "1813" instead of "Verein/1866".

"Verein" means "club", "association", "league" etc. So this clearly relates to an association that was either founded in the year 1866 or named itself after the Austro-Prussian War of 1866 or both.

Also what I could make of it.
    I assume it wasn't any official insigna/medal...!?

Correct. It was not an awarded cross. But a keeper none the less.

I'm pretty sure that the cross on the right is a Zimmerman.
Still working on the other one.
