I like the overall look of this cross. What bothers me is the different colour tone of silver on frames and on back plate. Cross frames are silver white, the backplate is more yellow - red. I would like to see it in hands, but if they had been made together, they should be of the same shade, both.
But I still tend to believe, this is veteran era repair (replacement), made by skilled jeweller. 300 euros is good price for such piece, I think.
Just my 5 eurocents.

Welcome to the forum.
That's a pretty good first Iron Cross.
I can't pin point a maker but my guess would be a
Friedlander or or something from the Wagner family.

Thank you Greg, I'm quite happy to be here!
And thanks also for your guess at the maker. It's certainly better than nothing!

Well the show didn't have any iron crosses that weren't re-soldered or very overpriced. The right one will come around.
Cheers, Pat

Be patient my young friend.
You are doing the right thing by not jumping
at every Cross you see. Quality over quantity.

I found that stuff from shows is usually overpriced. You can ebay EKs and come up with a fair few genuine EKs most days. I got my mm MFH EK2 from a seller in Germany for under £50. Now if only finding EK1s were as simple.
But by and large I steer clear of shows and military fairs.

I think "mint" is the correct term here.
They don't get much better than that.

Thanks Greg.
I am going to be looking for a few more in the future, possibly an 1870. Just not sure if I can afford it or not.
Ralph.
