If it is real its a 1 in 99 chance. Pretty good odds. But when you take into account the chance that this is faked, its about a 1 in 99000 chance

I've just been chatting to a senior member on another forum who is very into WW1 awards, and it was very interesting and instructive! He had a quick look at this badge and said that it was one of thousands that looked convincing out of several hundred thousand that have some obvious flaws or errors. Apparently these have been produced to one standard or the other every decade since the 1920's, and the only one he would consider owning would be one that came with the original bestowal certificate issued by the Weimar defence minister Dr.Gessler, and rock solid provenance that it was owned by a vet or his family at sometime. This is something he has never seen, never mind found, and consequently until he does he would never have one of these badges in his collection as there are far too many variables.
So I guess you have to want to believe, for want of better words....
'I do not think we can hope for any better thing now.
We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.
Last Entry - For God's sake look after our people.'
In memory of Capt. Robert Falcon Scott, Edward Wilson, Henry Bowers, Lawrence Oates and Edgar Evans. South Pole Expedition, 30th March 1912.
Thanks for the help and information Ned, much appreciated...!
cheers, Glenn
Hi Glenn, I guess it all boils down to price then and how much you want to own one?
Cheers, Ade.

I also sent pictures to someone on another forum who has
studied these extensively. He feels it is one of the high end fakes.
