However, I can find reference to an unknown maker who used "UI" which looks to me like what it is.Attachment 468149[/QUOTE]
I have never heard of a "UI" makers mark. Can you post an example ??

I was addicted to the "Hokey-Pokey" but I've turned
myself around.
Clear photos are needed. I can't stress this enough. Here is a thread that is a prime example of how proper lighting and camera angles will affect the outcome.
Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse, L/11, Deumer
Take your photos from a little further away to allow the camera to focus. The rest can be done with a photoshop program.
Ralph.
Searching for anything relating to, Anton Boos, 934 Stamm. Kp. Pz. Erz. Abt. 7, 3 Kompanie, Panzer-Regiment 2, 16th Panzer-Division (My father)
I tried again doing what you suggested, I sharpened the image slightly in the smaller picture to try and bring out the design a bit.

I didn't say or infer that I had access to an example. What I said was I have seen references to such a maker, one such being in post #7 here: 1914 EK 2 - ring mark - Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross - Gentleman's Military Interest Club
I'm seeing an 'S' now.....
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
Yes I can see that too now. The S would be on its side though.
Heinrich Schneider, Dresden?
eBay Australia Guides - WW1 GERMAN IRON CROSS MANUFACTURER'S MARKINGS (before anyone else jumps on me for the source).
S also attributed to Heinrich Schneider (?), Schwartz (?), or Sedlazek (?) of Dresden
Makers of the 1914 EK2
And S again attributed to "S" (EK I and II): Heinrich Schneider, Dresden

I'm trying to upload some better images but I seem to be having problems posting images at the moment, I'm not quite sure why
Edit: apparently this posted? just when I try to upload images it doesn't work, I wasn't having issues last night.
I think a moderator may have to approve the posts?
