just wondering if someone could help point out if this is fake or not and possibly explain as i am thinking about getting a collection of imperial militaria

The screw back has "Firenze" on it which is in Italy??

Stay clear of this one Tom its a fake

The date, and markings, etc. give it away.

Yep, as Steve and Lee have said ---FAKE.
The quickest easiest way to know for sure. There are NO 1870 screwbacks crosses.
Beyond that, This cross shows up all the time with a variety of different makers
marks. Deschler and Sohn, D-S, M9, along with others. It is very easy to spot
because of the style of the "8" in the 1870 date and also the holes in the crown.
