I thank you for your reply and research to help me along. I do see in the above picture a little bit of excess metal going beyond the stamping so I feel a little more relived as to its authenticity. As well, there is a little more wear on the obverse which indicates to me at least is a reason for its lack of crispness and detail.

I thank you again and I'll post more pictures in trying to show more of the detail to be sure.

i have seen some others around, that are not sooo crip, so it could be very well taht there are diferent manufacturers. That is a point that would need some further investigation..

But even thou it is a very nice and rather rare award ( 8000 around is not much..), i dont consider it something that is sooo desirable as to be faked , such as Eiserne Kreuze and such...
Its a cool award, and i have learned from it, so thanks for posting it ..

I thank you both for your insight and taking the time for providing a link to compare others. When in hand, it certainly looks original and with the additional info provided it looks close to the examples as listed as original . However, this is my first and the mystery continues.
