That is a very personal matter.
Restorations is what I do (did) for my profession.
I still got the helmet and it still is as on the pic I posted.
I like it very much the way it is and chose for "preservation" in stead of restoration.
And by preservation, I don't mean anything smart or technicaly very difficult; I just keep it dry in a cabinet and try not to touch it..... ;-)
I personaly like very much items that shows theyre history over a mint item.
And don't get me wrong, I like mint as well! But field gear can very well look like used in a battle (to me!), and on the other hand parade items should look mint, because not ment to be on a battelfield.
Anyway a very personal approch to each of us.
